Q: Setting up Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) on your ASUSTOR NAS

2026-10-13

#NAS #PQC #FAQ

Setting up Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) on your ASUSTOR NAS is straightforward because PQC Hybrid TLS is automatically enabled in ADM 5.1 and later versions when supported by the browser.

Step 1: Prepare Your ASUSTOR NAS

You do not need to enable any specific settings to use PQC.

  • Log in to your ADM interface.

  • Go to Settings > ADM Update.

  • Ensure your NAS is running ADM 5.1 or later.

  • Click the lock icon in the ADM taskbar to check the connection security status. The interface will indicate whether a PQC-encrypted connection has been established.

Step 2: Use a Supported Browser

No manual browser configuration is required.

When accessing ADM with a browser that supports PQC over TLS 1.3, ADM will automatically establish a PQC Hybrid TLS connection using X25519 + ML-KEM 768.

Step 3: Verify the Connection

Access your NAS through its HTTPS address. The encryption status indicator in the ADM interface will clearly show the connection security status, including whether a post-quantum encrypted connection has been established.
