#NAS #PQC #FAQ

Setting up Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) on your ASUSTOR NAS is straightforward because it is designed to be automatically enabled with the ADM 5.1 update.

Step 1: Prepare Your ASUSTOR NAS
You do not need to toggle any specific settings to enable PQC; you only need to ensure your system is up to date.
  • Log in to your ADM interface.
  • Go to Settings > ADM Update.
  • Ensure your NAS is running ADM 5.1 or later.
  • Verify that your connection is secure by clicking the lock icon in the ADM taskbar; it will display the connection status and confirm if PQC encryption (Kyber/ML-KEM) is active.

Step 2: Configure Your Browser
While most modern browsers support PQC by default in their latest versions, you may need to manually enable it or verify support if you are on an older version.
Google Chrome (v131+) & Microsoft Edge (v131+)
These browsers generally have PQC enabled by default. If it is not working:
Type chrome://flags (for Chrome) or edge://flags (for Edge) in the address bar.
  • Search for "TLS 1.3 hybridized Kyber support".
  • Set it to Enabled.
  • Relaunch the browser.
Mozilla Firefox (v132+)
Type about:config in the address bar and click "Accept the Risk and Continue".
Search for security.tls.enable_kyber.
Set the value to true.
Search for network.http.http3.enable_kyber and also set it to true for maximum compatibility.
Brave & Opera
Brave (v1.73+): Follow the same steps as Google Chrome.
Opera (v116+): Follow the same steps as Google Chrome.

Step 3: Verify the Connection
Once your NAS is on ADM 5.1 and your browser is configured, visit your NAS via its HTTPS address. In the ADM interface, the encryption status indicator will clearly show that a post-quantum encrypted connection has been established.
