Terminal

SSH:

You can enable SSH service if you wish to manage your NAS over Secure Shell (SSH). If you wish to transfer data to your NAS through SFTP (Secure FTP) you can enable that here as well.

Administrator group users and the [root] account can log into the NAS via SSH/SFTP.

SSH Keys:

Enabling SSH keys can improve the security of using SSH while also making it more convenient. SSH keys replace passwords and are much more secure than passwords.

  • Different pairing keys for different administrator accounts can be generated here. When storing the public key on the NAS, download the private key and save it to the SSH client at the same time. The newly added SSH key is enabled by default. You can choose to temporarily deactivate the SSH key or remove the key if needed.
  • You are able to optionally disable password authentication to log into SSH here. Disabling password authentication will not allow the user to login SSH with password anymore, including encrypted transmission via SSH in Remote Sync. Please be sure to add one SSH key for the user at least.

Note: Please keep the private key properly. Once lost, please log in to the NAS to regenerate new public and private keys.
