Using AiVideos on your mobile devices

  2. Stream videos on your NAS to mobile devices.

1. Installing AiVideos and connecting to ASUSTOR NAS

AiVideos brings you the smoothest mobile video viewing experience from NAS. Browse through the video collection on your NAS without needing to wait for long downloads from the Internet. Enjoy high-definition video streaming with just one click. AiVideos also supports multilingual subtitles and different audio channels to make enjoying films in different languages easy. Use AiVideos to bring the theater to your phone, tablet and set top box.

Please be sure that LooksGood has been installed and enabled on your NAS. Please click here to learn how to install LooksGood and set up libraries.

AiVideos is available for both iOS and Android. In this course we will be using the Android version of AiVideos as an example.

AiVideos also supports Apple TV and Google TV. Please click here for how to use AiVideos on Apple TV or Google TV.


1.1 Installing AiVideos

  • Search AiVideos on Google Play or the apple app Store.
  • QR code shortcuts are below.
  • Download and install the app.

1.2 Connect to your NAS using AiVideos

After installing AiVideos, there are a variety of ways to sign in to the ASUSTOR NAS from AiVideos.


If using AiVideos for the first time:

Please ensure Wi-Fi on your device is turned on. Your NAS will not appear if it is not on the same network.

  • Click to the right of Host/IP or Cloud ID to open the server list.
  • Select your NAS.
  • Enter the ADM account and password, and click Login.
  • If your NAS cannot be found in the list, click to reattempt to find your NAS.


  • Enter the IP address, DDNS domain or Cloud ID of your NAS to connect.
  • Enter the ADM account and password.
  • If using an IP address or DDNS, click Advanced and enter the correct ADM HTTP or HTTPS port.
  • Click Login.


If you have installed other ASUSTOR mobile apps and signed in to your NAS:

  • The new ASUSTOR mobile apps share mobile login data with other ASUSTOR mobile apps by default to make using ASUSTOR mobile apps easy. This can be turned off.


  • Click to the right of Host/IP or Cloud ID to open the server list.
  • Select your previously-signed-in NAS or one of the NAS devices located in the same network of your mobile device.
  • Enter the ADM account and password, and click Login.


Note: It is recommended to enable the EZ-Connect service and use Cloud ID to sign in.



1.3 Share login info and manage server list

The new ASUSTOR mobile apps share mobile login data with other ASUSTOR mobile apps by default to make using ASUSTOR mobile apps easy. This can be turned off.


  • Click to the right of Host/IP or Cloud ID to open the server list.
  • Click on .
  • Login synchronization can be enabled or disabled here.
  • Select a saved server and click to remove login information.



1.4 Waking your NAS with AiVideos

After logging in to your NAS with AiVideos, you'll be able to wake up your NAS both within and outside your local network, provided settings are set correctly. Click here to read more about Wake on LAN (WOL) and Wake on LAN (WOW) support.


  • Click to the right of Host/IP or Cloud ID to open the server list.
  • Click to wake a selected NAS.
  • Your NAS will need time to wake up. Please wait before attempting to log into your NAS.




2. Smart Video Management

The all-new AiVideos brings a newly redesigned user interface. AiVideos now prominently displays posters for select movies and TV shows, while Media Explorer makes finding and selecting videos easier, making AiVideos easier than ever.


2.1 Movies

After using AiVideos to connect to your NAS, click Movies to browse all movies added to LooksGood on your ASUSTOR NAS.

Click on the poster to play a video directly.


Click on a poster or thumbnail to display detailed video information.


The functions of the video information page are as follows:


  1. Plays videos by using the AiVideos video player. Please click here to learn more about player features.
  2. Download a video to the default download folder of your mobile device.
  3. Add a video to the playlist.
  4. Add a video to your favorites.
  5. Create a share link for the video.



2.2 TV Shows

After using AiVideos to connect to your NAS, click TV Shows to browse all TV Shows added to LooksGood on your ASUSTOR NAS.

Click on the poster to play a video directly.


Click on a poster or thumbnail to display detailed video information.


The functions of the video information page are as follows:


  1. List of seasons

  2. Play all videos of a selected season in sequence. Plays videos by using the AiVideos video player. Please click here to learn more about player features.
  3. Add a video to the playlist.
  4. Add a video to your favorites.

Menu options:

  • Play: Plays videos by using the AiVideos video player. Please click here to learn more about player features.
  • Add to Playlist: Add a video to the playlist.
  • Share: Create a share link for the video.
  • Download: Download a video to the default download folder of your mobile device.



2.3 Media Explorer

After using AiVideos to connect to your NAS, click Media Explorer to browse videos in all shared folders on your NAS.


Menu options:

  • Sort by: Sorting options by name, update time or file size.

  • Add to Media Converter: Add a folder or file to the Media Converter queue.
  • Set as Smart Folder: Once a folder has been set as a smart folder, any new video files added to that folder will automatically be converted.


Menu options:

  • Media Information: Selecting [Media Information] will display the video’s media information page. This page includes the following information:
    • General: Displays the video directory, size, length, and subtitle format.
    • Video: Displays information such as the video resolution and encoding format.
    • Audio: Displays the encoding format, sampling rate, audio channels, bitrate, and language.

  • Download: Download a video to the default download folder of your mobile device.
  • Add to Media Converter: Add a file to the Media Converter queue.

3. Media Player Introduction

AiVideos can directly stream videos on a phone or tablet with a built-in video player.


Note:

  • The videos with Dolby or DTS audio codec are not supported. Please select other audio channels to play if there are multiple audio channels available.
  • If the AiVideos video player cannot play a video, users can also click and select other media players installed on the Android mobile devices to play the video.

The functions for the player are described below.

Backward 10 seconds Play Pause Fast forward 10 seconds

  • : Stream videos from an ASUSTOR NAS to your Chromecast or Google TV device.

  • : Select other media players installed on the Android mobile devices to play the video.



  1. Select different video playback speeds here.

  2. This icon will appear if the video supports subtitles. Select subtitles for a video here.

  3. This icon will appear if the video supports various resolutions. Select video resolution here.

  4. This icon will appear if the video supports various audio tracks. Select an audio track for a video here.

  5. Displays the playnow list. Adjust playback order here.
  6. If automatic screen rotation is turned off, click to play videos in landscape mode and lock the orientation. Click again to rotate back to portrait mode.

  7. Adjust the brightness of a video here.




4. Managing downloaded videos

Use your wireless network to download videos on your NAS to your phone or tablet with AiVideos. AiVideos supports offline video playback for enjoyment of movies when away from the house without using mobile data that may have bandwidth limits or poor reception.

AiVideos can browse downloaded videos to your phone or tablet even when not connected to an ASUSTOR NAS. Click Downloaded to browse downloaded files on your phone or tablet offline.

  2. Delete: Delete selected video files here.




5. Monitoring video conversions

After using AiVideos to connect to your NAS, click [More] [Media Converter]. Monitor the video conversion status of LooksGood on the NAS.



The functions of the page are as follows:


  1. Continue an ongoing conversion task.
  2. Pause an ongoing conversion task.
  3. Stop and delete an ongoing conversion task.

  • Click to open the conversion task list which will display videos that are waiting to be converted.
    • Press and hold to adjust the order of conversion tasks or click to delete all tasks.

  • Click to open the logs of all conversion tasks.
    • Click to delete all logs or click to restart a canceled or failed task.




6. Additional notes

After using AiVideos to connect to your NAS, click [More] and choose to browse Home Videos or other newly added Custom Media Libraries.

Click the user icon to set up more options.



  • Library: Add or edit media libraries here.

  • Media Converter:
    • Task Scheduler: Enable converting task scheduling.
    • Same as Original: Enable the option to save converted files in the same folder as their originals. Or choose a folder in which to save converted files.

  • Tasks: View the status of downloads as well as results here.

  • Passcode lock: When passcode lock is enabled, you will need to enter a passcode before being able to use the app to connect to your NAS. Biometrics is another way ASUSTOR apps for phones and tablets use to properly authenticate you. Using biometrics to unlock ASUSTOR apps for phones and tablets is faster and safer and significantly enhances mobile privacy while ensuring that access to your NAS and personal data does not fall into the wrong hands.
