ASUSTOR Data Master

ADM 5.1

Notes:

  • 1. ASUSTOR recommends that you back up important data before upgrading.
  • 2. It will no longer be possible to downgrade to a previous version after installing ADM 5.1 .
  • 3. Update App Central apps after upgrading to ADM 5.1 for the best experience and maximum compatibility.

Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Ready: ADM Prepared for Future Threats

ASUSTOR has officially upgraded ADM to support PQC Hybrid TLS encryption certified by the US NIST. This fully adopts the official version of the Kyber algorithm, X25519+ML-KEM 768, and in ADM 5.1 and later, is automatically enables this feature through TLS 1.3 without requiring any configuration. This protects against the Harvest Now, Decrypt Later threat. As long as your browser supports PQC, it will immediately establish a post-quantum cryptography (PQC) encrypted secure connection, and the connection status will be clearly displayed through the ADM interface, ensuring that data stored on your ASUSTOR NAS can withstand future quantum computer threats.

Enhanced ADM Account Password Rules

ADM now supports new account password strength and rule settings. System administrators can enable password rules to enforce the strength and complexity of all user passwords as well as set password expiration limits to require regular password updates to reduce the risk of compromise. ADM also improves the password reset mechanism. When system administrators or users forget their passwords, authentication is required to reset the password, enhancing ADM system account security.

ADM Defender Firewall Improvements

The firewall in ADM Defender has been enhanced to block more connection types. The firewall now blocks client IP addresses attempting to connect to the NAS through EZ-Connect. A new profile can now be added to block clients from connecting to Docker containers deployed on the NAS. This effectively reduces the risk of malicious actors attacking the NAS through various connection methods, further enhancing ADM data security.

Dealing with Duplicate Files

ADM now supports scanning for duplicate files in File Explorer. Simply select a folder to scan, and ADM will perform a quick duplicate file scan. ADM also supports more precise scans for longer comparisons. After scanning, file removal rules based on the scan results can be set, making it easy to quickly remove redundant duplicate files and more efficiently utilize NAS storage space.
