ASUSTOR NAS Devices Now PQC Ready – ASUSTOR Pioneers the Adoption of NIST-Certified Kyber Algorithm to Keep Data Secured Today and Tomorrow.

ASUSTOR utilizes PQC-Ready encryption technology to continuously provide NAS users with high-strength protection for the future, in creating a stable and secure digital data management environment.

Taipei, Taiwan, October 16, 2025 – Facing the arrival of the quantum computing era and the potential risks to traditional encryption algorithms, ASUSTOR Inc. has announced that its NAS operating system, ADM 5.1, will fully adopt post-quantum cryptography (PQC) technology approved by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Due to this, ADM will now be officially regarded as PQC Ready. This upgrade will comprehensively enhance the core connection encryption technology to Hybrid TLS, employing the industry standard combination of X25519 and ML-KEM 768 (Kyber) for dual protection. This ensures data security both now and in the future. Users with browsers supporting TLS 1.3 and PQC will be able to connect to ADM 5.1 and subsequent versions without any manual configuration; the system will automatically enable post-quantum encryption connections, achieving seamless security upgrades and delivering a highly protected encryption experience.

Ensuring Long-Term Data Security Against “Harvest Now, Decrypt Later” Attacks
Harvest Now, Decrypt Later is an increasingly concerning cybersecurity threat: attackers intercept or steal encrypted data for the purpose of storing it for years or even decades, waiting for quantum computers or other advanced decryption technologies to mature before decryption. This poses a significant risk of data breaches for information that may have been considered secure. This includes, but is not limited to long-term backups, confidential files, intellectual property, medical and financial records, government and corporate communications, stored on NAS devices. By implementing PQC encryption mechanisms, ASUSTOR is proactively defending against future quantum threats, deploying encryption upgrades in advance, and providing users with long-term, reliable data protection.

PQC Secure Connections Start Immediately
ADM 5.1 and subsequent versions will automatically enable the PQC Hybrid TLS mechanism by default, requiring no additional changes from the user. When connecting to ADM using a supported browser, ADM will automatically detect and immediately establish a PQC-encrypted connection. The ADM interface will also clearly display the current connection encryption status, providing users with clear visibility and peace of mind.

ASUSTOR Continues to Strengthen Cybersecurity Defenses
ASUSTOR continuously tracks and strengthens data security technology while improving data storage, transmission, and backup functions to ensure system protection and reliability. Whether it’s for work, home, or enterprise scenarios, everything can be properly preserved. Through continuous optimization and feature upgrades of ADM, ASUSTOR not only safeguards current data security but also prepares for future threats, allowing users to confidently use ASUSTOR NAS devices to store important files and enjoy efficient and stable data management.

Minimum browser requirements for PQC:
Chrome 131.0.6778.70 (November 2024) / Edge 131.0.2903.48 (November 2024) / Firefox 135.0 (February 2025) / Opera 116.0.5366.0 (January 2025) / Brave 1.73.89 (November 2024)
