Keeping Data Safe
Peace of Mind Backups
When your NAS hosts the only copy of your files, then your NAS is not a backup device. When you have additional copies of your data on other devices like a phone, computer, external hard drive or cloud service, your NAS becomes your central backup server. One copy does not make a backup so ASUSTOR provides a myriad of ways to easily make and schedule backups for easy restoration in the event of a data loss disaster.
The 3-2-1 Backup Rule
The 3-2-1 Backup rule means keeping at least three copies of your data on two separate storage media with the final copy in an offsite location such as a cloud storage provider or other offsite media.
Snapshot Center
Snapshot Center uses Btrfs on your installed volumes to create snapshots. Snapshots are a layer of protection that creates historical versions of data in your NAS to protect against unintentional modification of data, including ransomware and user error. Snapshot Center also supports snapshots for iSCSI LUNs. Use snapshots to protect data from unintentional or unauthorized modifications.
MyArchive
MyArchive turns your NAS into an archive factory. Make as many archives of data as you have hard drives. Create MyArchive drives as a secondary offline backup while remaining easy to access by connecting to your ASUSTOR NAS. MyArchive also supports Btrfs, which means snapshots can be made to add an additional layer of data protection. MyArchive is its own independent system, meaning that disconnected drives are not affected by ransomware or virus attacks.
