ASUSTOR and Microsoft, Expanding NAS Functionality With exFAT

ASUSTOR has introduced an exFAT driver app to enhance NAS compatibility with USB external storage devices on the market and to facilitate the storage of large files for photographers and AV workers. ASUSTOR’s exFAT license key can also be offloaded at any time to be transferred to other ASUSTOR NAS devices for future use. For the best upgrade flexibility, selecting an ASUSTOR NAS device with ADM 3.0.4 is the best choice amongst NAS devices.

Taipei, Taiwan, December 27, 2017 - ASUSTOR Inc. has partnered with Microsoft to launch our new exFAT driver app expanding the capabilities of our NAS devices with the exFAT file system. Customers who upgrade to ADM 3.0.4, can access the app from App Central to make USB storage devices and large SD cards more widely accessible.

With the growing popularity of 1080p and 4K multimedia, digital files are no longer as little as 1GB in size. The widely used FAT32 file system is no longer compatible with the storage needs of users when it comes to high-definition video and because of the limited file size of 4GB. Since the user is likely to exceed this size regularly, this limitation is no longer acceptable to many consumers. The advantage of the exFAT file system is not only limited to the 4GB limit of a single file but also consists of being widely used in high-speed USB storage devices and SDXC memory cards. Supporting exFAT facilitates direct access by the NAS to access files on these devices, especially professional photographers and AV workers who often work with professional equipment. Supporting exFAT will increase the convenience of our users significantly.

When a user installs the exFAT app, the user can then purchase an authorization key from ASUSTOR’s Accessories Store and input it into the exFAT app, which will enable the exFAT driver. ASUSTOR, by design offers an authorization key transfer feature. This feature enables the key to be transferred from one NAS to another. If the key is to be used on a different NAS, simply follow the steps to unbind your key. The key then can be used for another NAS. Giving you another way to make your NAS convenient and flexible.

The exFAT Driver application requires ADM 3.0.4 or above to use this feature on an ASUSTOR NAS.
