<h4><a name="rc1"></a>1. Accessing your ASUSTOR NAS using the Internet</h4>
ASUSTOR provides users with quick and convenient solutions that allow them to use their NAS through the internet and remotely access their files, creating an exclusive private cloud. You can use any of the following methods to set up remote access to your NAS.

<li>Connect your NAS to your router</li>

<li>Using EZ-Connect service: ADM's built-in EZ-Connect function can help you to complete the necessary router configurations for setting up remote access to your NAS. For more information please refer to: <a href="https://www.asustor.com/online/College_topic?topic=221" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NAS 221: Remote Access - Using EZ-Connect</a>.</li>
<li>Using ASUSTOR EZ Connect (AEC) on Windows: Install ASUSTOR EZ Connect (AEC) on Windows to connect to the NAS. Please refer to: <a href="https://www.asustor.com/online/College_topic?topic=227" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NAS 227: Introduction to AEC (ASUSTOR EZ Connect)</a>.</li>
<li>Manually configure your connection: If you are using an incompatible router and cannot use EZ-Connect to complete your remote connection settings, please refer to: <a href="https://www.asustor.com/online/College_topic?topic=224" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NAS 224: Remote Access - Manual Connect</a> to read more about how to manually configure your router to give you remote access to your NAS.</li>

<li>Directly connecting your NAS to the internet If you have a static IP address, you can choose to directly connect your NAS to the Internet, without having to go through any routers or firewalls. Please note that this method will directly expose your NAS to the Internet and you may be more likely to experience malicious attacks.</li>

Any devices or services that can be accessed remotely on the Internet is at risk of being attacked, ASUSTOR strongly recommends taking the following actions to ensure your data is secure:
<ul style="line-height: 2.0;">
<li>Create your own administrator account instead of the default admin account.</li>
<li>Change your password.</li>
<li>Use a strong password.</li>
<li>Change default HTTP and HTTPS ports. Default ports are 8000 and 8001 respectively.</li>
<li>Turn off Terminal/SSH and SFTP services and other services you do not use.</li>
<li>Make regular <a target="_blank" href="https://www.asustor.com/online/College_topic?topic=152" rel="noopener">3-2-1 backups</a> and ensure backups are up to date.</li>
