    Manage your files

    File Explorer comes pre-installed with ADM and can be used to browse and manage the files on your NAS. It is able to display all directories and files found on your storage volumes. No matter if the task is uploading, downloading, moving, copying, compressing, decompressing or ISO file mounting, all of these tasks and more can be done from within File Explorer. Additionally, ADM supports three simultaneously open File Explorer windows. You can easily make copies of files by dragging and dropping them into a different File Explorer window.

    • Thumbnail previews allow you to quickly find the images you need.
    • Upload files and folders from your computer to your NAS via drag and drop.
    • Keyboard shortcuts now supported in File Explorer. Use a keyboard to cut, copy, paste, select all, delete and rename files and folders. Enter, Backspace and arrow keys are also available for navigation.

    Task Monitor helps you to easily monitor the status of actions like uploading, downloading, moving, copying, and deleting files in File Explorer and can display and run multiple tasks simultaneously.

    Preview Multimedia Files

    ADM File Explorer has a built-in multimedia player that can directly preview videos, images, and audio files. File Explorer can also review multimedia files by opening another separate tab in a web browser. Video, audio, and image format support varies with different web browsers. Your mileage may vary.

    When your friend or colleague receives a share link, he/she can see the shared files/folders list with just one click and select only the needed files to download. This makes file sharing more intuitive and flexible.

    Easily View Office Documents Online

    New to ADM 4.2.2 is the ability to view documents, spreadsheets and presentations directly in your web browser with File Explorer. EZ-Connect is required to preview Office documents, spreadsheets and slideshow presentations online. Use Google Docs or Microsoft Office Online to view documents, spreadsheets or slideshow presentations directly on a web browser.

    The supported file formats are as follows:
    • Google Docs: doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx, pdf, tif
    • Microsoft Office Online: docx, dotx, xlsx, xlsb, xls, xlsm, pptx, ppsx, ppt, pps

    All New Share Links – Send and Receive Data from Family and Friends

    Share Links in ADM allow you to share files with people who don't have accounts on your ASUSTOR NAS. Not only can data be shared with others for downloading, but new share links can be set to allow the uploading of files from friends, family and clients to share files to your NAS. An account is not required and share links remain restricted only to where you allow uploads to be placed. Use share links on ADM to conveniently share files from and to your ASUSTOR NAS.

    Note: Only system administrators can create Share Links for uploading.

    Smoother Photo Browsing with Optimized Thumbnails

    Use your mobile device and/or computer browser with hardware acceleration to accelerate the performance of creating thumbnails. ADM and the Ai series of apps are able to take advantage of your device’s processing power to speed up thumbnail generation to make browsing photos on an ASUSTOR NAS and mobile apps a smoother experience.

    Edit Plain Text Files

    Install the new Text Editor from App Central to add or edit various plain text files on ADM 5.0. There is no need to download or create text files on a computer or phone for editing when your NAS is able to do it.

    Dealing with Duplicate Files

    ADM now supports scanning for duplicate files in File Explorer. Simply select a folder to scan, and ADM will perform a quick duplicate file scan. ADM also supports more precise scans for longer comparisons. After scanning, file removal rules based on the scan results can be set, making it easy to quickly remove redundant duplicate files and more efficiently utilize NAS storage space.

    ADM introduces the ability to browse photos and play music straight from File Explorer. Users can choose to play single or multiple songs.

    File Explorer has been upgraded browse more diversified data sources. In addition to MyArchive snapshots, historic versions of files are easily accessible through File Explorer to quickly restore previous versions. EZ Sync support has also been added to File Explorer to make files directly accessible. With File Explorer, files and folders can be dragged and dropped directly to and from EZ Sync folders, making EZ Sync easier than ever to use.
